Playground replay

The recorded run on the Ring Developer Playground, with the evidence behind every alert.

Observed on the Ring Developer Playground

Recorded events

Five events were simulated in the Ring Developer Playground. Two rules were deployed: the package rule and the vehicle rule.

The two package events fired only the package rule, the two vehicle events fired only the vehicle rule, and the bird event fired neither rule.

For each recorded event, whether each deployed rule fired, with its score.

A rule fires when its score is above the threshold τ (0.00 for both rules here). The score is the rule’s robustness on the facts Claude read: above the threshold the rule held, and the size reflects how confident the facts were. Stage 1 means the decision was made on the fast model’s facts. In a witness, ρ is the same measure for one part of the rule.

Event 3 of 5

Playground recording 19: box seen on the steps and the porch

Still frame from Playground recording 19: box seen on the steps and the porch
Claude’s one-line summary of the clip
The clip is essentially static: a cardboard box sits on the front steps and a small object by the porch remains unchanged while snow covers the yard, with no people or vehicles appearing across all 16 frames.
All 16 frames Claude read
The 16 frames Claude read from Playground recording 19: box seen on the steps and the porch, in time order, left to right and top to bottom, from 0.99 s to 30.71 s
Sixteen frames sampled across the clip, in time order, left to right and top to bottom. Each column of the facts below is one of them.

The facts Claude read

  • k1 package: cardboard box
  • o1 object: watering can or bottle, blue cap
Frame 1, 0.99 sFrame 16, 30.71 s
  • in_zone(k1, steps)

In 16 of 16 frames; confidence high

  • in_zone(o1, porch)

In 16 of 16 frames; confidence low

Darker cells are higher confidence; an empty cell means the fact was not asserted in that frame.

What the two deployed rules decided

Package rule

Fired

There is a package k such that (k is on the steps or k is on the porch) continuously for at least 15 s.

Why it fired

There is a package k such that (k is on the steps or k is on the porch) continuously for at least 15 s.

Bound to k = k1 (package: cardboard box)

  1. Held continuously

    from 0.99 s to 15.99 s (15 s); ρ +0.45

    holds_for >= 15 (in_zone(k, steps) or in_zone(k, porch))

  2. Seen in a frame

    at 0.99 s; ρ +0.45

    in_zone(k, steps)

Vehicle rule

Dropped

There is a vehicle v such that v is in the driveway.

Score
−0.50
Threshold τ

Nothing to explain: the score is not above the threshold, so no alert was raised and no witness was kept.

Cost, and the live moment

How the events were produced, and what reading one costs.

How these events were produced

Simulated in the Ring Developer Playground; events were read by polling event history.

Reading an event with Claude on Amazon Bedrock costs $0.0014–$0.0015 per watched event in our live runs. Every rule after that runs on the stored facts.
